About

Jasmine Mendiola writes about her work because she loves it.

Jasmine was bitten by the theater bug as early as she was 12 years old. She pursued her passion as a Theater Arts Major in Ateneo de Manila University and was active as a lighting designer under the tutelage of the late Salvador Bernal, National Artist for Theater Production. She was Theater Manager and Special Projects Officer for the prestigious collegiate company, Tanghalang Ateneo under the mentorship of Dr. Ricardo Abad. She learned makeup from thespian and makeup artist, Ricci Chan and Publicis Manila’s President and director of the world-acclaimed Babae sa Septik Tank, Marlon Rivera.

Jasmine’s makeup style marries the discipline and state-of-the-art technique of theater and a taste for natural beauty. Her light touch and soft strokes make for the most beautiful bridal makeup, having done over a hundred brides since 2005 and is in demand in editorial features that highlight the subject–be it a bride, a model or personality–rather than the trends to date. This led her to work with top brands like BECCA, Lancome, Pout, Smashbox, Sugarbaby and Youngblood.

Jasmine’s style in makeup translates to her philosophy in her other works. She helped influence today’s tweens’ fashion sense and shaping their ideals while working as the Fashion and Beauty Editor of Summit Media’s Total Girl Magazine for 5 years, teaching young girls about modest and age-appropriate looks stressing the importance of skin care over cosmetic knowledge and dressing for each unique body type.

Her experience as an editor equipped her with well-rounded skills and the right network of talented photographers, stylists, writers and other artists to put together photo shoots for any given set up–prenuptial pictorials, editorials and print ads–which led her to become SM Girls Teens Wear’s Adpromo Manager in 2009 and ABS-CBN’s Assoc. Creative Director for advertorials in 2010.

Jasmine’s knack for mentoring as early as her theater production days continues on as she teaches her range of style and makeup-related talents as an imaging teacher at John Robert Powers Philippines and TrainStation’s in-house style guru. She is also a member of the Association of Image Consultants International Singapore-chapter. She gets to share her learnings on a daily basis as she blogs about these here.

She also blogs about the love of her life, her 7 year old son Mio who’s happily a normal child who loves school, drawing and basketball in spite of struggling with acute lymphocytic leukemia at www.miofightscancer.com
